Why do we love this case?

This pack of delicious reds covers a broad range of styles, from five regions across three countries. From top NZ Pinot Noir to beautiful Bordeaux - this pack offers something for every night of the week, and at exceptional value.

Included in this case:

1x Lornano Chianti Classico DOCG Sangiovese 2019

Red — Sangiovese

Tuscany — Italy

Chianti for the New World wine-lover. Bold and supple, with heaps of saucy black cherry action. The acid’s there; that common theme in pretty much all Italians that guarantees food-friendliness. Dusty cypress-lined gravel path tannins give just the right hint of the rustic, without taking away from the class and poise of what is a cracking vino. It already has one 97 point review and I’m sure there’s a few more accolades on the way.

You’d pay $80 full price.

1x Chateau Bourdieu No.1 Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux 2019

Red — Red Blend

Bordeaux — France

Nothing quite so satisfying as fleshy red and black fruit in chorus with ripe tannic structure and peppy acidity. This is a merlot dominant red blend, which makes for plush red fruit - velvety, glossy, full - underscored by the slightest bit of grippy, barby cab sauv. There is a bit of malbec third-wheeling, which adds to the compelxity and shape of the package. It’s inky and full. Chewy and bristling. Sweet vanilla french oak and dark chocolate ride the fringes of the dense fruit core. Bordeaux is very rarely described as ‘friendly’, usually being much more high-brow. This is more your slap-you-on-the-back-friendly, and we reckon you should say ‘g’day’.

You’d pay $79 full price.

1x Corte Medicea Toscana Rosso Aros 2019

Red — Sangiovese

Tuscany — Italy

This half/half sangiovese cabernet blend typefies Toscana IGT (aka Supertuscan), with all the cherries and sandy tannins you’d expect, plus structure and blackcurrants from cabernet and a few good licks of chocolate and vanilla from judicious oak use.

So here’s where we are, in a world where the likes of Gaia and Sassicaia have paved the way for entry levels from Italy of this quality, just because they don’t conform to outmoded rules. And a lofty 98 points from Luca Maroni just confirms the notion. Let the Italians experiment, I say!

You’d pay $55 full price.

1x Château Hautes Versannes Saint-Emilion 2020

Red — Merlot Blend

Bordeaux — France

The thriving sandy soil vineyards in the commune of Saint-Sulpice de Faleyrens are dominated by two classic red grape varieties; cabernet franc and merlot. It’s here in this quaint corner of Saint Émilion where we fortuitously discovered Château Hautes Versannes. With a mere ten hectares planted, it is a wonderful wine find. The 2020 is a powerful blend, with a notable leafy aroma followed by quality oak. As it is youthful, it does deserve a bit of air to breathe. The flavours are plummy, with some dried fruit character and tantalising tannins that give the wine restraint, and are not too drying. Although the wine is full-bodied as expected, it finishes classy and elegant. A bordeaux experience to savour.

You’d pay $79 full price.

1x Te Pa Signature Series Pinot Noir 2020

Red — Pinot Noir

Marlborough — New Zealand

You could be forgiven for thinking Marlborough is all about savvy b, but chat to the locals and they can’t stop carrying on about pinot noir (and chardy for that matter, but that’s a tipple for another day). The Te Pa Signature pinot has all the classic elegance and poise coupled with intensity and focus, but its the fruit that’s knocking our socks off. Brimming with pulpy dark red cherry and winter strawberry, the fruit persists from start to finish. A little bit of oak nuance and some fine grain tannin gives the wine shape and structure. There’s plushness and generosity set against a tart, sappy backdrop. This is a wine in perfect balance showing its full potential.

You’d pay $55 full price.

1x Hollick The Bard Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

This is one of those 'if you know you know' wines. We've had the privilege to work with Hollick for years and years. It's almost embarrassing to say how many, it makes us feel old. This range originally was all about shiraz, but we're bringing in the big guns: Coonawarra cabernet. Erring more on the side of chocolate and blackberry cake than it is mint and eucalypt, yet still so notably Coonawarra.

You’d pay $50 full price.
