Why do we love this case?

A better mix of Bordeaux that perfectly straddles the hard-to-traverse ravine of value and quality from this region has never hit the ’fo before. It’s about time, I tell you what. Now those who vote green and have a strong opinion about ‘aitch’ versus ‘haitch’.

We want you to really explore the depths and versatility of these wines (and we know you’ll just be clamouring for more if we didn’t give you enough) so we’ve provided a generous pack with four of each of the following stellar value Bordeaux reds:

This Bordeaux Supérieur hails from the Left Bank, just outside the Graves appellation, and is a fantastic red blend having just picked up 95 points at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2017. It spent 12 months in oak, and dark red fruits and blackcurrants mingle with vanilla and nutty notes, with silky, velvety tannins all the way through. It’s a great wine to add a touch of class to a special dinner.

We love this wine because it’s a great value Bordeaux blend. It doesn’t try to be more or less, just fulfils that role admirably. Oh, aside from winning a lazy couple of gold medals. But it did that without even trying. One thing it won’t be doing is growing old, because it’s become the Sunday (ok, and Friday and Saturday) night staple on our table, with everything from the obligatory spaghetti bolognese to salmon night. Beau’s not shy (as we’ve come to call it), not fussy about what you’re eating, just gets on with being eminently drinkable and reminds you occasionally that it’s time to order another case.

From the vine-covered rolling hills that rest above woods that are perfect for hunting, fishing and foraging comes the solution to the spoils of all these activities: good wine that goes with everything hand-caught or home-grown. This is wonderfully rounded, the stuff that you want to crack open at the big, rustic dining table to go with rough-hewn hunks of cheese and something slow-cooked that’s just come off the stove, resting straight on the table in a well-used Le Creuset. Goes well with family, friends and laughing.
