Auntsfield Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018
- Textured, savoury
Auntsfield were Marlborough’s first vineyard and winery, established back in 1873. Their single vineyard wines are all grown at the estate with meticulous care, hand picked, hand sorted, carefully done to gently extract those delightful flavours and tannins so associated with pinot noir. What flavours you ask? All the ripe berries, black cherries and plums and a touch of dark chocolate and cigar, a true expression of what Marlborough terroir can offer for pinot noir. “This is splendidly fruited and inviting on the nose showing sweet cherry, plum, floral, cedar and subtle spice aromas, followed by a concentrated palate that is focused and delightfully flowing. The wine offers terrific fruit purity and intensity, wonderfully complemented by silky texture and polished tannins, making the wine seamless and persistent.”
