Ropiteau Meursault Chardonnay 2019
- Textural
- Burgundy
Ropiteau Freres was established in 1848 when the first trains connected Burgundy to Paris. The Ropiteau brothers saw an opportunity and began trading as wine merchants. Shortly thereafter they developed relationships with growers, many still in place to this day (with subsequent generations of course), to start producing their own wines.
Profile
Their highly acclaimed Meursault is sourced from vines planted over clay and limestone, both in the flatlands and the upper slopes. Everthing was hand-picked and hand-sorted, undertaking a gentle pressing and fermentation before resting in 20% new French oak. Floral aromas abound on the nose before giving way to a palate of lemon curd, red apple, peach, minerality and a surprising and cleansing salinity. Absolutely delicious and immensely complex.
Reviews
International Wine Challenge
âNose supremely fine, with aroma of lilies, white chocolate and russet apple. Palate has such silky, svelte fruit with a sleek saline finish.â
