The Founder's Reserve is as smooth and fruity as the whisky that first ran from the original copper pot stills. The unique, lantern-shaped copper stills, designed by George Smith himself, are as integral pieces of Glenlivet's distilling legacy as the traditional oak casks in which they mature their whisky. Each cask gives its own distinct characteristics to the liquid inside, and to lend a modern twist to the flavour of this edition, current Master Distiller, Alan Winchester, married a selection of the aged oak casks with American first-fill oak casks - that's casks that have never been used to mature whisky before.
