Why do we love this case?
The Lucky Dip Case is here! The last time we did this, we broke the internet. This time we’ve bubble-wrapped the servers because they’re in for another beating.
Every case contains the same five amazing reds. More info on them below, but they're among our bestselling wines of all-time.
Then there’s the added excitement of seeing if you have won the world-beater lucky wine you will receive as your sixth.
The sixth wine is the wildcard and could be either of these:
Château Margaux 2019 worth $1500 (1 in 100 chance)
Angove Family Winemakers 1886 Shiraz 2021 worth $40 (at a minimum!)
We should say up front: there are no returns on this - click here for case terms and conditions. As it’s a Lucky Dip, it would be unfair to other mofos running in the draw.
The easiest way to guarantee to get a bottle of Margaux is to go out and buy one for yourself. If you, like me, don’t have $1500 handy, this is your best (and cheapest) option. Heard enough already? Pop that case in the cart and cross your fingers and toes. Otherwise, read on for a bit more info on these bestselling reds:
1x Wild Card Wine for Lucky Dip - Bestselling Reds Edition
Red — Mystery Varietal Red

1x Magarey Lane Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
Cassis and red currant right up front. Tannins grip the gums and arrest the mouth before some round, smooth oak work offers relief. This is a prime example of Coonawarra's reliability in delivering regional and varietal typicity: fresh red and black fruits into more briary, developed, darker fruit tones, followed by coffee, chocolate, cedar, and fruit-leather. This is a drink-some-hold-some wine, it's looking brilliant right now, but we can't help but wonder what excellence a few years in the cellar may bring...

1x Ivyburn First Minister Shiraz 2022
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
This deeply personable shiraz expresses ripe red berries, black pepper, spice and blackcurrant . Full-bodied and complex, the ripe characteristics of rich, broad fruits, and overt chocolatey notes tell you that, odds are, you're in the great McLaren Vale region. In other words, this is a strikingly regional wine that expresses all that is great about this phenomenal region. Fragrant American oak is displayed with intensity and vibrancy and, along with an already present texture and structure, set this wine up for a very long life in the cellar. Drink now - 2035 (at least).

1x Geoff Merrill Pimpala Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
Geoff Merrill is a man of many talents. Lucky for us (and you), making absolutely phenomenal wines is one of them. Geoff creates his wines with an eye on the future, everything is held back and carefully tracked until it's in its optimum drinking window. This is what a wine in the optimum drinking window looks like. Full of oomph and bravado, this strapping back-vintage cab is not for the faint of heart. Packed with succulent, ripe berry fruits, charry and vanillin oak and leather – this is not one to pull the bat away from big, bold flavours. Marked by a toasty oak profile, there's a whack of tobacco, clove and freshly roasted coffee perfuming the nose and palate. This is quite the wine to impress.
You’d pay $65 full price.

1x School House Headmaster Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
We know that Coonawarra cabernet is sincerely age-able. That’s just part and parcel of this region’s charm. This School House cab shows the best of what the famed red clay has to offer, as it walks the tightrope between power and elegance with perfect poise. There are ripe dark fruits of plum and cassis, wrapped up in fine tannins and complimented by notes of toasty oak. It is intense, but also wonderfully balanced. We don’t need to say much more, because this is one wine that does most of the talking.
You’d pay $60 full price.

Wild Card Wine #1
Château Margaux 2019
Bordeaux, France
100 Points: Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, James Suckling, Jane Anson | 98-100 Points: Vinous | 98 Points: Decanter | 4.6 Vivino
A quintessential Château Margaux, showcasing purity, finesse, and precision, with a luxurious yet fresh profile that promises decades of aging. It's considered a benchmark vintage, with some comparing its sensuous quality to the 2009 vintage.
"Is the 2019 Château Margaux the wine of the vintage? A strong case in its favor could certainly be made. Soaring from the glass with aromas of blackberries, raspberries, rose petals, violets, pencil shavings and vine smoke, it's full-bodied, layered and sensual, with a strikingly vibrant core of fruit that's framed by ripe, powdery tannins and bright acids, concluding with a penetrating, mouthwateringly saline finish of almost interminable duration. Complex, elegant and utterly compelling, this is a brilliant Bordeaux that anyone with the requisite disposable income is going to want to own." 100 Points, Robert Parker

Wild Card Wine #2
Angove Family Winemakers 1886 Shiraz 2021
Bordeaux, France
Five Star Halliday Winery | Iconic | Mofo Fave
This wine was crafted using traditional techniques at the historic, century-old Angove winery. After gentle de-stemming, wild fermentation was embraced in open fermenters to let the site’s character shine. Twice-daily hand plunging and pump-overs built colour, structure and complexity. Once dry, the wine was basket-pressed and sent to French oak for a long, slow maturation. Blackberry compote, aniseed and crushed herbs leap from the glass, supported by overt cedar and warming spice. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with a velvety texture that weaves dark plum, mocha and savoury oak into a seamless whole. Bright acidity and fine tannins stretch the finish long and clean. This is Barossa done beautifully. Drink now - it'll last for 10 years in the cellar but just drink it, it's so good right now.
