Kalleske Eduard Shiraz 2009

If the Barossa had a “greatest hits” album, 2009 would be right near the top. A perfectly paced growing season - one of those vintages that just worked. The result is impeccably ripe fruit with concentration, balance, and that signature Barossa swagger. We're in love with this wine. Yes, in the romantic sense of the word.

Why do we love this wine?
The fruit for Eduard comes from three blocks of seriously old vines - planted between 1905 and 1960 - all dry-grown in sandy loam over clay. These vines don’t muck around. Low yields mean every berry is packed with deep, inky flavour and old-vine soul. Handcrafted in tiny open fermenters, basket-pressed and matured in French and American oak for two years, this wine was built to impress (and outlast). Now, let’s talk taste. The 2009 Eduard is pure luxury in a glass - dense, dark and brooding with aromas of plum pudding, fruitcake, chocolate, liquorice and a touch of spice. It’s generous and full-bodied on the palate, loaded with layers of rich fruit and beautifully integrated oak. The tannins are ripe, fine, and dusty - think structure without harshness, confidence without arrogance.
