The Right Bank of Bordeaux has always been a treasure trove for great wines at less-than eye watering prices (as opposed to those of the Left Bank which are largely unattainable). This fits that bill and then some - a stand out wine from the greatest wine region there is.

Why do we love this wine?
Merlot dominance of the blend gives up front juiciness, presence, and power on the palate - rich, concentrated fruit compote and ripe dark berries. A bit of cab franc in the blend chimes in and offers some peppy acidity and rigidity to the wine, tying it off quite neatly. As a single piece the wine shows great complexity; liquorice, juniper, fennel, umami, mocha, and that all important Bordeaux cocktail of blackcurrant leaf and cigar box. An enduring fantail finish makes for immensely satisfying drinking. Salut!
