Why do we love this case?
The wines that turned even the haughtiest of critics into star-struck fanpeople who mysteriously ‘forget to spit it out’ during a high-brow tasting panel. The concept behind this pack is pretty simple; there’s only one condition to entry - a 96 point or higher award. The vast majority need not apply. We already separate the wheat from the chaff here at the ‘fo. This is the artisan stonebaked masterwork that results.
1x Devitt & Moore William Pile Shiraz 2022
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
Winemakers across the board described the stellar 2022 vintage as a growing season that produced wines of elegance and structure with depth and length of flavour and it is all on show here in a big, bold and beautiful way. Have you got a roast or bbq planned? Crack a bottle of this. Want to impress an in-law who only likes full-bodied reds? Crack a bottle. Long week and need a glass of red to relax? Crack a bottle. At this point you'll need a few bottles always on hand but when the wine is this good and suits so many occasions, you'd be silly not to have a box stashed away.
You’d pay $115 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Schild Estate Angus Brae Shiraz 2022
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
The best of both worlds. All the big, bold, brash Barossa that you're used to, but with a point of difference. Elegance. A smooth, slippery, silky, shiraz that absolutely still packs a punch. Reminiscent of Hewitson's premium wines.
From a steep hillside vineyard, about 5kms north of the Lyndoch township, this full-bodied shiraz displays intricate and complex layers of black pepper, spice, dark chocolate and ripe blackberries and plums. The smoky cedar notes of the oak and super-fine grained tannins bring a touch of class to your glass and set up a long, velvety finish. Although already very elegantly well-integrated, the bright acidity, presence of the oak and slightly chalky tannin structure set this wine up for a long life in the cellar of anyone who's got the patience.
You’d pay $110 full price.

1x Reschke RSR Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
We’ve now seen many a ripper vintage of this baby. It’s one deal that flies out the door and into your kitchen. For those in the know, you're never disappointed once you pull the cork. A cellar release with a lucky 8 years of evolution - give it a burl, and you’ll see that it is only starting to touch its prime drinking window. Usually exclusive to the wine producer’s database, this trickles out to us only when we are lucky, somehow our charming wine buyers have managed to get on that lucky list.
Boisterous tannins that have mellowed to a brooding, silky palate, with chunky fruit joined by herbaceous and somewhat meaty notes. There’s still classic cabernet cassis and blackberry, which is accompanied by rosemary, thyme and a long and savoury finish. Be quick, mofo - you too should be so lucky!
You’d pay $103 full price.

1x Château Tour de Yon St Emillon Grand Cru Merlot Blend 2020
Red — Merlot Blend
Bordeaux — France
The stars of the Right-Bank are on show here with 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc complimenting one another to deliver a wine of the utmost composure — elegance, purity and all of that Bordeaux sophistication. It all starts with the old, sandy, gravelly soils where the vineyards are immaculately tended to, ensuring a wine that provides a pure expression of the region and varieties. 16 months of maturation in new oak provides extra layers of complexity with results that rival this Chateau's acclaimed neighbours.
You’d pay $90 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Archery Road Longbow Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
From the prized southern part of the sun-drenched Barossa, steeped in quality grown shiraz (you know we’ve done the research). It’s right here, where the surrounding views offer the picture-perfect painting; a diversity of colours from the tree leaves to the soils, which in turn give our favourite grape - shiraz. A blend of hand-selected low-yielding parcels, you’ll find generous flavours of black fruit, olive and pepper spice, backed by silky tannins, yet the wine is intense on the palate, with a great depth and length.
You’d pay $90 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Magarey Lane Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
Cassis and red currant right up front. Tannins grip the gums and arrest the mouth before some round, smooth oak work offers relief. This is a prime example of Coonawarra's reliability in delivering regional and varietal typicity: fresh red and black fruits into more briary, developed, darker fruit tones, followed by coffee, chocolate, cedar, and fruit-leather. This is a drink-some-hold-some wine, it's looking brilliant right now, but we can't help but wonder what excellence a few years in the cellar may bring...
