Why do we love this case?

“Hands down one of my fave producers in the world! A great way to tour the great cru’s of Beaujolais when you’re unable to travel! I was lucky enough to visit Domaine Anita in 2019 and we fell in love with the wines on the trip. This pack is a great way to explore the best Crus of the region and I highly recommend trying them out!” - John, Wine Buyer

Domaine Anita are situated in the small village of Chenas, home of gamay, and they make all styles of Beaujolais from various local villages. This pack shows off the breadth of skills in the Domaine, from various single vineyards, in the best Crus of the region, from some very old vines.

1x Domaine Anita Moulin-à-Vent La Rochelle 2021

Red — Gamay

Beaujolais — France

"Tasting this feels like standing on a beach, then being hit by a giant wave and carried away, but in the most delightful way. Great sour cherry and black cherry fruit plus a stack of very fine tannins and a slew of spicy notes. From 40-50 year-old vines in weathered granite. Very long fermentation on the skins, then almost a year in Burgundian oak. Drinkable now, but best from 2024." – James Suckling

1x Domaine Anita Morgon Le Clachet 2021

Red — Gamay

Beaujolais — France

"This Morgon masterpiece is still very young, but the enormous depth and stunning harmony are already completely clear. Great blue fruit aromas rest on an enormous structure that's almost perfectly integrated on the very concentrated palate. Stunning finesse at the extremely long finish. The soil in this parcel is a mixture of volcanic blue stones and schist. Previously this wine was marketed under the name Morgon Prestige. Drink or hold." – James Suckling

1x Domaine Anita Moulin-à-Vent Reine de Nuit 2021

Red — Gamay

Beaujolais — France

‘Reine de Nuit’ translates to Queen of the Night, referencing the practice of harvesting the grapes for this wine in the cool of the evening. The 40 year old vines offer up fruit that displays freshness on the nose in the form of redcurrants and raspberry, leading to a smooth and generous palate. This is a favourite of James Suckling, amongst his descriptors calling it "extremely vibrant and exciting". Hard to top that.

1x Domaine Anita Fleurie Les Moriers 2021

Red — Gamay

Beaujolais — France

This is a brilliant expression of the granitic soils of Fleurie - among the most highly regarded of Beaujolais’ ten crus. It is fine boned and deftly finessed. A little bit of tannic prickle gathers on the back of a drying, granite-like mineral base. Blackberry and bramble abound, but in a cooler, more precise fashion to what we’re used to seeing in these often well-developed fruits. Purity is the focus here - freshness and focus define the wine. It has a pleasing amount of palate weight, too, for Fleurie and for a wine with such elegance - evidence of winemaking mastery. Brilliant wine. We can see exactly why Suckling is gushing over it.

"This Moulin-a-Vent has delightful red fruit character plus a slew of floral notes. Then the strident minerality and compact fine tannins hit you on the palate and this develops a remarkable drive. Very long, focused and structured finish. Drink or hold." – James Suckling

1x Domaine Anita Chenas Les Brureaux 2021

Red — Gamay

Beaujolais — France

Outstanding gamay. Snappy and bright without sacrificing its smooth, lithe mouthfeel and palate weight. Fresh berries and Turkish delight are underscored by a gravelly minerality. There is an exactness to the execution; a perfect expression of terroir. The acid grapples with the gums, pushing its way up the palate into a long, enduring finish. A standout wine at a knockout price - this is not to be missed.

Frequently Asked Questions

This collection showcases the premium cru appellations of Beaujolais rather than basic Beaujolais, representing the region's most prestigious vineyard sites like Moulin-à-Vent, Morgon, and Fleurie. These cru wines are made from old vines in specific terroirs that produce more complex, age-worthy expressions of Gamay with greater depth and structure. The textured, savoury style demonstrates how serious Beaujolais can rival Burgundy's complexity while maintaining Gamay's characteristic freshness.

The exceptional ratings (94-98 points) reflect Domaine Anita's mastery of single-vineyard expressions from Beaujolais' finest terroirs. James Suckling particularly values precision winemaking and terroir expression, which these wines deliver through careful vineyard selection and minimal intervention techniques. The combination of old vines, optimal vineyard sites, and skilled winemaking creates wines that transcend typical Beaujolais expectations, offering the complexity and elegance that critics seek in premium French wine.

The textured, savoury profile with earthy minerality makes these wines incredibly food-friendly, particularly with roasted poultry, duck, or pork dishes where the wine's spice notes complement rich proteins. The blackberry and raspberry fruit pairs beautifully with mushroom-based dishes, while the earthy character enhances game meats and aged cheeses. Their medium body and balanced acidity also make them excellent with charcuterie boards or traditional French bistro fare like coq au vin.

Each cru offers distinct terroir characteristics - Moulin-à-Vent typically provides the most structured, age-worthy wines with granite soils lending minerality, while Fleurie offers more floral elegance and finesse. Morgon delivers earthy, robust character from its schist soils, and Chenas combines power with aromatic complexity. This selection allows you to experience how the same Gamay grape expresses differently across Beaujolais' varied geological landscape, essentially providing a masterclass in terroir.

While these wines are approachable now and showing beautifully, the 2021 vintage from these premium cru sites has excellent ageing potential of 8-12 years. The old vines and quality winemaking have created wines with sufficient tannin structure and acidity to develop greater complexity over time. You can enjoy them immediately for their fresh fruit character, or cellar them to experience how they evolve into more savoury, earthy expressions that rival fine Burgundy in complexity.
