Why do we love this case?

We all know the expression about dangling a carrot in front of someone. But what if this entire case of wine is ‘carrots’ so to speak? We’re talking about South Aussie after all. All you can really do is dangle an even bigger carrot. So that’s what we did. You’ll get 5 bottles of Kilikanoon Oracle Shiraz 2015, probably enough in itself to make this case find its way to your cart. But why stop there? We’ve added the ultimate carrot, a bottle of Kilikanoon Attunga 1865 Shiraz 2015. All carrots, no sticks...that’s how we roll.

What’s in the Case?

Each case contains the following:

1 bottle of Kilikanoon Attunga 1865 Shiraz 2015

Clare Valley, SA

97pts DWWA 2021 | 4.3 Vivino (All Vintages) | 92pts IWSC 2019 | 91pts Halliday Wine Companion | Gold Medal Mundus Vini 2019 | Gold Medal Decanter World Awards UK |Gold Medal Mundus Vini 2020 | Silver Medal IWSC 2019 | Best in Show DWWA 2021

Over 150 years ago the vines for this wine were planted in the Clare valley. It’s not often you come across vines that old, in fact these were amongst the earliest years of plantings in Australia. Pretty neat, hey? Not only have these vines essentially become one with the terroir in that time, but Kilikanoon crops at super low yields to achieve small, intense berries. You’ll see that immeasurable flavour immediately- beyond anything you’ll get just from age or good winemaking. It’s deep red with crimson hues, and all the prowess to follow through. New and old french oak has given this baby structure and intensity; lifted dark fruits, fresh licorice and compote entertain the palate while the vanilla and light spice do the supporting work behind the scenes. It’s sincere yet subtle, immense yet composed. This will not fail to disappoint you, even for decades to come.

YOU’D PAY $350 full price.

This wine speaks of its home, and it’s not afraid to show you all that is great about the Clare Valley. Crafted from prestigious low yielding shiraz parcels, the Oracle is a wine that only sees the light when the vintage cuts the mustard. Each parcel of fruit is treated as its own, respecting the nuances that might arise in each crop. It’s then carefully fermented to preserve the fruit purity. 18 months in new and seasoned French oak has kicked this bad boy into luxury status, and has set it up for years of ageing potential. It rolls across the tongue with focused dark berries and red fruits, before showing you its more brooding side: savoury cured meats, olive tapenade, dark chocolate and sweet spices. It’s easy to see why Kilikanoon are proud to craft this wine as their love letter to the Clare.

YOU’D PAY $90 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Attunga 1865 is crafted from vines planted over 150 years ago, making them among Australia's earliest plantings and essentially part of the terroir itself. These ancient vines, combined with Kilikanoon's ultra-low yield farming, produce incredibly concentrated berries that deliver flavour intensity impossible to achieve through winemaking alone. The wine's 97-point DWWA rating and Best in Show award reflect this extraordinary heritage and quality.

Both wines are built for decades of cellaring, with the Attunga 1865 particularly designed for long-term ageing potential. The French oak structure and concentrated fruit will evolve beautifully, developing more complex tertiary flavours like leather, tobacco, and earthy notes while the primary fruit integrates. The Oracle's 18-month oak treatment also provides excellent cellaring foundations, allowing the dark berry and savoury elements to marry and develop greater complexity over 10-15 years.

Clare Valley's unique terroir combines warm days with cool nights, creating ideal conditions for Shiraz to develop both power and elegance. The region's ancient soils and elevation help retain natural acidity while concentrating flavours, which is why these wines show such focused dark berry character alongside savoury complexity. This terroir expression is particularly evident in how both wines balance their full-bodied richness with refined structure and age-worthiness.

These rich, complex Shiraz wines pair beautifully with robust dishes that can match their intensity - think slow-cooked lamb with rosemary, aged beef steaks, or game meats. The savoury notes of olive tapenade and cured meats in the Oracle make it excellent with charcuterie boards, while the Attunga's licorice and spice elements complement dishes with Mediterranean herbs and bold flavours like braised short ribs or mature hard cheeses.

Absolutely - you're getting exceptional value with wines that would normally cost $800+ individually (Attunga 1865 at $350 and Oracle at $90 each). This represents significant savings on museum-quality wines from one of Australia's most respected producers. The combination gives you both an ultra-premium experience with the ancient vine Attunga and multiple bottles of the highly-rated Oracle for everyday luxury, making it perfect for both special occasions and building a serious cellar.
