1x Domaine Lemoule Burgundy AOC Pinot Noir 2023

Red — Pinot Noir

Burgundy — France

We just love Burgundy, red or white, we don't care just get it in our glass. We could easily drink it any time we wanted a wine (if someone else was paying that is). Prices from well-known appellations and big time producers continue to sky rocket, but fear not burg lovers — enter Domaine Lemoule. From a small area in the far north of Burgundy, just west of Chablis. This is a wine for people in the know. A wine that you bring to your most wine geeky friends house and they are just begging you to tell them where you got it from. Red Burgundy that still represents good value. Full of appeal, freshness and drinkability, this burg has dinner party written all over. A joy to drink now and over the next 5+ years.

You'd pay $65 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Chianti represent centuries of winemaking mastery, each with distinct terroir that has been refined over generations. Bordeaux excels with its gravelly soils perfect for Cabernet blends, Burgundy's limestone-rich slopes create ethereal Pinot Noir expressions, while Chianti's rolling Tuscan hills and Sangiovese vines produce wines with remarkable food-pairing versatility. These regions have established the global benchmarks for quality red wine production through thousands of years of trial and refinement.

The Bordeaux Margaux offers elegant blackberry and plum notes with subtle spice complexity, while the Burgundy Pinot Noir showcases delicate sour cherry and strawberry characteristics with earthy mushroom undertones. The Chianti Classico brings vibrant red fruit flavours balanced with coffee and allspice notes, creating a more rustic yet refined profile. Together, they demonstrate how different grape varieties and terroir create distinctly different expressions of European winemaking excellence.

The 2023 Burgundy is beautifully approachable now, showcasing fresh fruit character that Pinot Noir delivers in its youth. The 2021 Chianti Classico has had time to integrate its tannins and is drinking wonderfully, while the 2018 Bordeaux Margaux is entering its prime drinking window after five years of bottle development. All three can be enjoyed immediately, though the Bordeaux has the greatest potential for further cellaring if you prefer more developed tertiary flavours.

The Margaux's refined tannins complement lamb and aged cheeses beautifully, while its blackberry notes enhance roasted meats. The Burgundy Pinot Noir is exceptional with duck, salmon, or mushroom-based dishes, where its delicate structure won't overpower subtle flavours. The Chianti Classico is a natural match for Italian cuisine - think osso buco, aged Parmigiano, or even pizza, as its acidity and fruit-forward character cleanse the palate between bites.

The 98-point Luca Maroni score and 97-point DWWA recognition indicate exceptional quality that rivals wines costing significantly more. James Suckling's 'Outstanding' ratings and the Gold DWWA medal demonstrate consistent excellence across the collection. These scores from respected international critics and competitions validate that you're accessing premium European wines that represent outstanding value, with quality levels typically found in much more expensive bottles from these prestigious regions.
