A special series wine from a prominent McLaren Vale winery isn’t something that’s easy to get our hands on. And we mean, sometimes this stuff can’t even be picked up when you bang on the doors of wineries themselves. So, safe to say we were jumping for joy to land this beauty from Curtis. Intensely dense, which sounds just as smooth as it drinks. Heightened aromas of blackcurrant and black cherries waft enticingly from the decanter, which help to open this to its full potential. The oak influence is superbly balanced, helping to lift the marked quality of the fruit and give this beauty the longevity it deserves. Sometimes you say we spoil you mofos, and we’re starting to think that you’re right.

If you’re looking for something that’ll satisfy you on the most indulgent of occassions, look no further. It’s easy to fall in love with this Coonawarra beauty, not only for the eye-catching packaging but for the incredible wine that it promises inside. The Nightfall range is a side-project of renowned winemaker Sam Brand, and has been shortlisted for Halliday’s Best New Winery this year- so you know they’re really about the goods. This classic single vineyard drop is the real pristine stuff. Impressively ripe with a palate displaying cassis, chocolate and tobacco, this wine is complex and well structured. A great one to whip out at dinner when the conversation is getting nice and intense.

Here is one show-stopping, chart-topping shiraz that’s ready and roaring. While this is drinking perfectly now, do be warned - it’s quite the blockbuster! Handcrafted from the finest grapes of their Barossa vineyard, this does what we look for the most in these wines; rich, full-bodied and full of aromatic lift. Moroccan spices and dense black fruits such as blackberries and black cherry. All of course handled beautifully with high quality oak and supporting fine tannins. A blockbuster with a really great plot.

We all know the Barossa, and likely this icon of a wine, but do we really know it’s history? Introducing to you pioneers of this famed region, with this winery established over 150 years ago. They show no mercy when it comes to staying true to the region: meaty, bold, and focused reds with a whole lot of character. You know what we’re talking about: eye-catching hues of purple, soft and silky tannins, and more plummy goodness than you can poke a stick at. There’s cherry and rhubarb sure, but we’re talking unapologetic notes of chocolate, toasty oak and handfuls of freshly cracked pepper. It’s a showstopper, and built to impress even the most discerning of critics.

Vintage after vintage this wine is awarded 95+pts - critics go wild for this shiraz and with good reason. It’s rich, full-bodied and brimming with luxurious, fruity, chocolatey notes. There’s some of the very best grapes in the region here, held together by a generous touch of French oak. Drink now or cellar for the next decade and a half. From experience, though, you’ll crack this out well before then. Whether you open it or not, it’s the lowest risk investment you’ll make this year… and the returns are delicious.

This wine will be a special treat for the mofos who get their hands on a case, of which there aren’t many available. It’s a cellar release that has 10 years of ageing, developing and improving in its future. It’s a cuvèe that is usually exclusive to the producer’s database, but somehow our charming wine buyers have managed to get some for the site.
Each glass of this cabernet is sure to be excellent and intriguing. The once boisterous tannins have now mellowed on the silky palate, and fruit is joined by herbaceous and somewhat meaty notes. There’s still classic cabernet cassis and blackberry, which is accompanied by rosemary, thyme and a long and savoury finish.
