Hailing from the legendary 2018 vintage, this is a wine of ripe, plush, glorious flavour. We’re talking blackcurrants, cassis, leather and tobacco. And yet it’s still all balanced atop that classic Bordeaux medium body and fine yet firm, gravelly tannins. Stunning.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 2018 vintage is widely regarded as exceptional in Bordeaux due to ideal weather conditions that produced wines with perfect balance between power and elegance. This Château De Braude exemplifies the vintage's characteristics with its ripe, concentrated flavours of blackcurrant and cassis, while maintaining the classic Bordeaux structure. The combination of warm, dry conditions and cool nights allowed for extended ripening, resulting in wines with remarkable depth and aging potential.

Haut-Médoc sits on the Left Bank of Bordeaux and is known for producing structured, age-worthy wines with distinctive gravelly soils that impart mineral complexity. This terroir creates wines with firmer tannins and more pronounced earthy characteristics compared to Right Bank appellations. The gravelly soils provide excellent drainage and heat retention, contributing to the leather and tobacco notes found in this Château De Braude, while allowing Merlot blends to develop remarkable depth and complexity.

This wine's medium body and savoury profile make it incredibly versatile with food, particularly excelling with grilled lamb, beef bourguignon, or aged cheeses like Roquefort. The cedar and allspice notes complement herb-crusted meats beautifully, while the plum flavours provide enough fruit to balance richer dishes. The firm tannins and textured mouthfeel also make it an excellent match for mushroom-based dishes or charcuterie boards featuring cured meats and pâtés.

This 2018 Haut-Médoc is drinking beautifully now but has excellent aging potential for another 8-12 years. The firm yet fine tannins and balanced acidity provide the structure needed for extended cellaring, during which the leather and tobacco notes will become more pronounced. Store it in a cool, dark place at consistent temperature, and you'll be rewarded with increased complexity as the wine develops tertiary flavours and the tannins soften further.

The Concours Mondial De Bruxelles is one of the world's most prestigious wine competitions, with rigorous blind tasting by international experts. A Gold medal indicates this Château De Braude ranked among the top tier of wines in its category, competing against thousands of entries globally. This recognition validates the exceptional quality of both the 2018 vintage and the producer's winemaking expertise, confirming that this wine delivers outstanding value and craftsmanship at its price point.
