This wine comes from Château de Vaudieu, literally meaning 'Valley of God', which sits in the heart of the prestigious Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The estate benefits from the region's famous galets roulés (rounded stones) that retain heat and reflect it back to the vines, creating the intense concentration that makes Châteauneuf-du-Pape legendary. With 18 months of oak ageing and over 250 years of winemaking heritage, this represents the pinnacle of Southern Rhône craftsmanship.

As a premium Châteauneuf-du-Pape from an established producer, this 2020 vintage has excellent ageing potential of 15-20 years when stored properly. The Grenache blend's natural tannin structure, combined with the 18-month oak maturation, provides the backbone for long-term development. While drinking beautifully now with its rich cherry and chocolate notes, it will evolve to show more tertiary flavours like leather, game, and earthy complexity over the next decade.

This wine's intense dried cherry, leather, and chocolate flavours make it perfect for rich, savoury dishes that can match its power. Think slow-braised lamb shanks, aged beef steaks, or game meats like venison or wild boar. The spicebox notes also complement Mediterranean herbs, making it excellent with ratatouille, cassoulet, or herb-crusted roasts. The wine's structure can handle strong cheeses like aged Roquefort or Comté as well.

While Grenache forms the backbone of this Châteauneuf-du-Pape blend, the appellation allows up to 13 different grape varieties, creating incredible complexity.
