Maison Jean Loron Château Bellevue Morgon AOP 2022

$270 / 6PK
If you think Beaujolais is just light and fruity, this 2022 Morgon will quickly change your mind. It's a plush, mouth-filling Gamay loaded with ripe dark cherries, crushed plum and wild raspberries. All that generous dark fruit is perfectly balanced by a hit of savoury earth, a touch of black pepper and silky tannins that carry through to a brilliantly fresh finish. It's dangerously versatile, highly smashable and absolutely built to be poured alongside a massive charcuterie board.

Why do we love this wine?
Coming from the historic estate of Château Bellevue under the masterful guidance of Maison Jean Loron, this release showcases exactly why Morgon is so fiercely protected by wine insiders. The vines sit on ancient, weathered granite soils that give the wine serious structural swagger and depth. In fact, there's a specific French word for what happens when this unique terroir ages. It's called 'morgonner', meaning the wine beautifully evolves in the bottle to taste incredibly similar to a high-end Côte de Nuits Pinot Noir. You're getting a single-estate French Cru with incredible pedigree and concentration, completely skipping the premium Burgundy price tag.
