Why do we love this wine?

Among the great many estates producing decent rosé in Provence, there is an elite group of 18 Cru Classé makers that constitute the cream of the crop. These are the best of the best, where Provence hangs its pretty pink hat. This one, made of a classic blend of cinsault, grenache and syrah, is equal parts undemanding and interesting. It’s delicately charming, with gentle aromas of tropical fruits, sage and mountainous Mediterranean minerality, finishing with a dash of grenadine sweetness and an orange pith twist. It’s the perfect pairing for anything involving sunshine.

Frequently Asked Questions

This wine belongs to an exclusive group of just 18 Cru Classé estates in Provence, representing the absolute pinnacle of the region's rosé production. While Provence produces thousands of rosés, only these elite producers have earned the prestigious Cru Classé classification, which requires meeting strict quality standards for vineyard location, winemaking techniques, and consistent excellence over many years.

The magic lies in the classic Provençal blend of cinsault, grenache, and syrah grapes, each contributing distinct characteristics. Cinsault provides delicate floral notes and freshness, grenache adds the tropical fruit aromatics and body, while syrah contributes structure and the subtle spice elements. This traditional combination, perfected over centuries in Provence's Mediterranean climate, creates remarkable complexity without heaviness.

This distinctive minerality comes from Provence's unique terroir, where vineyards are planted on limestone and clay soils formed by ancient seabeds and mountain erosion. You'll taste it as a subtle chalky or stony quality that adds backbone to the wine, creating a clean, almost saline finish that enhances the fruit flavours. It's this minerality that gives Provençal rosés their characteristic elegance and food-friendly nature.

Serve well-chilled at 8-10°C in a large wine glass to allow the delicate aromatics to develop properly. The wine's crisp, dry style and mineral backbone make it incredibly versatile with food - try it with Mediterranean dishes, fresh seafood, goat cheese salads, or even spicy Asian cuisine. Its light body and refreshing acidity cleanse the palate beautifully between bites.

Absolutely - quality Provence rosés like this Cru Classé are designed to be enjoyed within 2-4 years of vintage for optimal freshness and fruit expression. The 2020 vintage is currently in its sweet spot, offering perfect balance between youthful vibrancy and subtle development. While most rosés should be consumed young, the superior winemaking standards of Cru Classé estates mean this wine will maintain its elegance for another year or two if properly stored.
