Seriously good rosé. Fresh berries and raspberries overfloweth. Creamy, rich, and generous - this is a fine example of why, when it comes to rosé, France is the be-all and end-all.

Why do we love this wine?

A powerful little wine. Zippy, zingy - palate weight aplenty but no shortage of peppy acidity. There is some confected strawberries and cream, but it never veers into fruit-lolly unctuousness. The wine is focused and precise throughout. Mas de Cadenet has an international reputation for elite rosé, and when you tuck into this you'll know why.

Frequently Asked Questions

Provence rosé like this Mas de Cadenet represents the gold standard for dry rosé production, using the saignée method where juice is briefly contacted with red grape skins before fermentation. The region's Mediterranean climate and limestone-rich soils create wines with exceptional minerality and precision. Unlike sweeter New World rosés, Provence rosés are bone-dry with delicate colour and complex flavour profiles that pair beautifully with Mediterranean cuisine.

Serve this rosé well-chilled at 8-10°C to showcase its crisp acidity and delicate fruit flavours. Store bottles horizontally in a cool, dark place away from temperature fluctuations. While rosé is generally meant for immediate consumption, quality Provence rosés like this 2022 vintage can maintain their freshness for 2-3 years when properly stored, though they're at their peak within the first year.

The wine's zippy acidity and light body make it incredibly food-friendly, particularly with Mediterranean dishes like grilled seafood, ratatouille, or goat cheese salads. The strawberry and raspberry notes complement tomato-based dishes beautifully, while the crisp finish cuts through rich foods like salmon or creamy pasta. It's also excellent as an aperitif with charcuterie and olives.

Mas de Cadenet's international reputation stems from their meticulous vineyard management and precise winemaking in the prestigious Sainte Victoire sub-region of Provence. The 4.1 Vivino rating reflects the wine's perfect balance of power and elegance - delivering palate weight without sacrificing the peppy acidity that defines great rosé. This combination of concentration and freshness is what separates elite Provence rosé from mass-market alternatives.

Palate weight refers to how the wine feels in your mouth - its texture and body rather than just flavour intensity. This rosé achieves the rare feat of being light-bodied yet having 'palate weight aplenty', meaning it delivers satisfying mouthfeel and presence without heaviness. This balance comes from careful extraction during winemaking, creating a wine that's refreshing yet substantial enough to pair with more robust dishes than typical light rosés.
