One of the smallest regions in Victoria, but one with a large rep for producing premium cool climate wines. And did we mention stunning beaches and a vibrant food scene too? Here’s five of our favourite cellar doors to visit whenever we’re down in Mornington Peninsula.

Pt Leo Estate

One of the grandest cellar door spaces in Australia - a stunning building with three separate dining experiences, ranging from fine dining at their Laura offering, contemporary a la carte in their main restaurant, through to more casual dining on their wine terrace. There’s plenty on offer even if you’re not dining through - their tasting bench can take you through a flight of their acclaimed cool climate wines (Halliday rated them a five star winery in 2023), and when you’re done there’s also the option of a gentle stroll around their stunning sculpture park too.

3649 Frankston - Flinders Rd, Merricks VIC 3916, open 7 days.

@polperrowines

Polperro

If intimate experiences are more your thing, Polperro is a great shout, where one of their wine specialists will take you through a flight of their cool climate numbers - Huon Hooke rates their estate pinot noir as one of the best in Mornington, and we’d have to agree. Also featuring an a la carte restaurant overlooking the vineyard, plus accommodation on site if you’re looking for an indulgent weekend of food and wine.

150 Red Hill Rd, Red Hill VIC 3937, open Wednesday - Sunday.

@montaltovineyard

Montalto

Montalto’s Estate wines have been picking up some bling for a while now, and we can’t think of many better ways to sample them than at their cellar door in Red Hill, or kicking back on their terrace with a glass or two. Boasting a restaurant supplied by their own three-acre kitchen garden, it’s a real local highlight. Make sure to have a wander around their sculpture trail, too.

33 Shoreham Rd, Red Hill South VIC 3937, open 7 days.

@foxeyshangout

Foxeys Hangout

Another Red Hill gem, the team at Foxeys were the first in the region to achieve biodynamic certification. Their tasting room is adjacent to the winery, so you’ll be sipping amongst wines still in barrel, and downstairs you’ll also find a restaurant specialising in seasonal small plates designed to share.

795 White Hill Rd, Red Hill VIC 3937, open 7 days for tastings.

@crittendenwines

Crittenden Estate

With 20 wines on tasting, the team at Crittenden are adept at delivering an experience tailored to your tasting preferences, showcasing the wines they reckon you’ll fall in love with. With both standard and premium tasting flights on offer, choose your own adventure over an unrushed hour The restaurant Stillwater at Crittenden is also located onsite, open for lunch Wednesday to Sunday and dinner Friday/Saturday.

25 Harrisons Rd, Dromana VIC 3936, open 7 days for tasting.

@10xtractor

Ten Minutes By Tractor

Located in Main Ridge, Ten Minutes By Tractor is famed for its chefs hatted restaurant - but don’t overlook their slick and stylish cellar door, pouring their premium cool climate wines. Their on-site wine bar Allis also carries a menu of paired small plates. Open 7 days a week, but bookings are essential to secure your spot.

1333 Mornington-Flinders Rd, Main Ridge VIC 3928, open 7 days for tasting.

There's a few of our favourites, but it's not an exhaustive list of all that's great about the region. Get amongst it and get exploring!

ps. check the winery websites we've linked for up-to-date info on bookings and opening hours, especially around holidays.
